What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

Slick!
I like that kind of modelling, because the precision required goes up as the size goes down.

Just a couple welders and a couple of big hammers and torches.

Billy Lane built a full size bike several years ago that used a helicopter bearing for the rear axle. You could see right through the rear wheel and axle assembly.

hi guys thanks for the kind words last weekend the gift was handed and i was surprised by the big smile of my neph, and the immediate request from my other 5 nephs of similar pieces - ouch -
the pics are of the final product, sadly i didn´t have the time to finish the way i would´ve liked, i thought of giving the tank and seat a coating of copper phospate (sp?) that gives a nice shade of browns and copper but the hardware store was out of it and that delivery date was last we.
sorry again for the bad pics, it must be me but i find easier to blame my phone ...
regards
thanks again guys for the nice words,
pete

some comments
at first i thought that today you know, the kids live in the playstation/transformers era and something like this would be like "oh thanks-" if you know what i mean, but i must say that the smile and big hug that this little boy gave me erased all fears. he and his brothers played all afternoon with it and left other toys for later. so guys try it please the rewards can´t be measured. for a little moment i felt like i beat the hotwheels company.. haha i know for a while...
on the build...
the bearings are only welded in the inner race so after a smear of graphite they roll ok, for the last pics i tried to find a suitable background but ended up using a piece of vinyl
oh one huge mistake was to make the tank out of sheetmetal but bottomless, way easier to make it with the bottom or from solid stock and that way it can be welded to the inside of the frame
i think the most time consuming item for this was figuring what to use for making the parts, for example the frame is made of 5/32 7018 rod, or the triple clamps... haha one entire evening to figure out how...
thanks again
