What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

After scoring some free drops from my steel supplier and having a piece of 2 1/2" square tube in my pile I had to build a hitch for my truck. It bolts on where the ball bolts to the bumper and to the bumper/frame mount. I drive a Chevy S10 so it won't be towing much. I TIG welded the whole thing. I primed it tonight and am picking up the two bolts needed tomorrow then paint it black and bolt on my truck. Will update tomorrow.

Matt,
When the guy gave you that free metal he probably didn't realize that you were going to use it to build a trailer hitch for your truck so you could come back with a trailer to haul more free metal. Kinda like feeding a stray cat. I'm guessing soon you'll being on here with a post asking if anybody knows a good steel supplier around Gassaway.

Plus now that you have a hitch on your Chevy, every time you look in the rearview mirror you'll find a Ford trying to catch a ride home after a breakdown. I used to happen to me all the time, it's a curse.

Tig snob alert !!!
Just a couple welders and a couple of big hammers and torches.

LOL  That happened to me recently.... the curse of having a car trailer. I called it a Ford, but it was really a Mercury.

I'm not a TIG snob it's just that my mig welder is too small to handle 1/4" and I didn't want to open my only can of Excalibur 7018 and the only other rods I had were some wet 6013 so I opted for TIG

Matt, you cant seriously be thinking about hauling anything with that hitch. It will never hold anything, what is wrong with you!!!!!!

It is to display hitch covers and a place to hook a chain in case I need pulled that is mainly it. I guarantee it will hold up to whatever the truck can move. It is only a 2wd 4cylinder truck so it will power out before it breaks.

This thing is bolted in three places, two are indirectly bolted to the frame one is where the ball bolts to tow with anyways so I know it isn't going to break and anything that truck can move and stop safely will never break that hitch!

I'll have you know I pulled an 8000# camper (plus about a ton of our possessions in the truck and the camper) from the middle of Iowa to the south end of Louisiana with an F-150 with a friggin' 4.2L SIX-CYLINDER gas engine! It would do 70 on the interstate, too! When my wife told our (ASE) mechanic buddy, he refused to believe her, and she popped the hood for him.

I plan on testing the hitch this weekend. I have over a grand worth of deliveries and projects and I need some extra space so my neighbor is loaning me his 4x8 utility trailer. Unfortunately tonight we were rebuilding my trucks rear end so hoping that holds lol
