yeah, the welder is great, the foot pedal ergonomics is backasswords
here's my tempoary solution
rubber on the bottom and skateboard grip tape on the new top
And if anyone is wondering what the insides look like, this is it- hardly 150 bucks worth
What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

Very creative, Jim. I like it. Just may do the same for my AHP.

spend more time getting your new top angles right so you don't need the wooden wedge underneath to make it more comfortable.
I saw someone suggest using an electric guitar volume pedal for a welder control pedal.
I picked up an Ernie Ball volume pedal for cheap on eBay a bit back, and a new resistor to match the resistance in my pedal, but haven't finished the wiring for it.
They're a surprisingly simple device, the cost is most likely in the metal work on these more expensive products.
The guitar pedal has a very nice pivot system, as well as a friction fit string on drum connection to the potentiometer, making for a smooth resistance change through the pedal motion.
(Well, a lot of hype and marketing cost probably, when the products are new!)

Cant be that hard to home brew a pedal after seeing the guts in this on, a variable pot, and a switch to start the high freq is all there is
