For my rod tubes, I made double removable end-caps to take the stubbies out. No stubbie is safe!
What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

That will work. Jody has a dual cap setup for different length rods from what I remember in one of his videos. You improved on it. I use all my stubbies asap when I can for little insignificant welds or tacks before I grab a new rod.

That's my other stubby. And I also use it asap when the occasion arises.exnailpounder wrote:I could make a joke right here about you using your stubbie...but I won'telectrode wrote:That will work. I need to build something to hold all the different rods that I have ordered that will be laying around for now.
Lincoln SP 175 Plus
AHP Alpha TIG 200X (on the way)
Oxy/Acetylene Torch

Make many more tubes than you think you will need. I need to add some to the outside of my carts already.bigfabdaddy wrote:I need to build something to hold all the different rods that I have ordered that will be laying around for now.

Your's is in tubes? Mine is in the recycled tubes that Radnor puts their junk in. My new LWS sells rod by the pound and puts it in bags...sometimes I take it out...sometimes I don't take it out. I just opened a 30 year old box of 4043 rods I got from a retired welder and they work better than the 4043 I just bought new a month ago. Must be the China syndrome.

Here's how I made my rod holder. I used old rectangular tube I saved for such a job. I Blasted the paint off with my HF Blasting cabinet, it did a great job even though the media I was using was medium/fine glass bead.
