What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

Excellent point...

I hadn't considered the fragile ears and minds of all the young children reading a welding forum... ;)

I was actually enjoying the debate, as I love to debate and will take either point of view just to see if my opponent can argue with logic. The moment he said I was "immoral" because we didn't agree on the use of language, it was on, though. "Immoral?" He doesn't know me from Adam (or Mohammed?)

I did, at first, regret that he quit us. However, anyone with that level of self-rightious intolerance would have been a problem eventually on a forum made up largely of men who work in various trades.

Hey,

Yep, Thats about it. Yet again the Simpsons have it. Anyone who cant handle a debate should have gokd hard look at him self. As I see it, No names were called, merely questions asked and point made. The idea behind any argument , really.

Let us move on.

Anything about boat build? Please post pics of boat you've built.
I'm working on aluminum boat, thinking of 5083 Marine Grade Plates for durable built.

I have personally welded on a lot of aluminum boats in my time. Best to be more than proficient with aluminum mig. Still, welded aluminum hulls are more for commercial use or those which use heavier plate. Most pretty aluminum light (11 and thinner) gauge hulls are riveted, or mostly riveted other than outside corners at the stern, perhaps, or at least the framing is. I have welded aluminum for years and opted to build a wood boat instead.

Here's the wood one I built just for the heck of the topic of boat building. Many people tried to get me to build an aluminum one instead.

I prefer portable boats. It hangs on the wall in the garage, when not in use.
Light weight and easy to take anywhere. It fits on the roof of most vehicles.

If you want to travel to far away destinations, here's another option.
Nolin's Company is about 20 minutes from where I live.

I had lived with "portable" boats my entire life. I am a long sitting member of the winter wet feet club (we actually had an aluminum boat we affectionately referred to as the "Leaky Tiki") and have paid my dues. I work on boats for a living and one might figure me to have a really nice one by default, but in true welder fashion, have to keep them guessing and asking with the. . ."couldn't you just buy that?" that is often associated with the projects most of us get into.

It was really a father/son project and a lesson on if you can't afford it, you can always build it, which is almost exactly how I got into welding in the first place, and the importance or benefit of possessing multiple skill sets in our type of economy. It gets used nearly every weekend for the most part, and is really economical to run.
