This what I do to put new cutting on excavators with dozer blades
1). Clean up grind flat old edge
2). Clean up and cut to length new edge
3). Clamp new edge to front of old edge about 1/2 lower for welding
4). Alternate stitch welding starting in middle where the edges meet

I’ve done many like this ,never had a problem.

I have to say, it's probably a lot of fun running beads on stuff that size, so often.

Do you ever get into work with Stellite (hard weld)? I keep Stellite tig rod here for things like bearing diameters and wear surfaces, but it's not practical for big stuff like a dozer blade.

I like welding heavy steel . I don’t do a lot of hard face.
