Had to build a cover for the connection ports on a CO2 trailer.

Like putting lipstick on a pig...What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

No lift arms... This client's drivers are slighly above broccoli in intelligence. That's a simple locking arm, that latches automatically, and has to be released manually, kinda like a cheap tool-box lid.
It had to be as idiot-proof as possible, and they weren't going to pay for gas struts.
If they'd break down and buy a half-decent manual box-brake... I could have done this in half the time and gotten something I wouldn't mind putting glossy paint on. It's not bad at all, but it could be better if they'd spend some money now and then.

I was leaning toward "illegals", but "teamsters" will do.
The hold-open is scratch-built entirely from 1 X 1/8" SS angle, with a 5/16 SS bolt & nylock. It lands on the right tail/brakelight assembly's forward bolt, replaced with a 2 1/2" bolt.

So it's just a pressure fit and you lift the door up a little to release it?

It's a gravity drop. The angle keys onto the bolt when the door is opened. it is released manually by pulling on the tab at the bottom.
