Here was my project today; Several hours spooling and fitting left me with this field weld:
I was in a cylinder 7 1/2 feet across.
I'm not sure why, but I find things like that fun!

The bottom of the ell is 1 3/4" off the floor. I liked the trial-fit som much, I cleaned and welded it just as you see it.What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

Here's the finished product. Not my prettiest work, but it's unlikely to be seen again.

Hey,
Great. It must be our masochistic nature, that we like to do things that will possibly cause us to end up on the ground in a ball, sobbing.

LMAO!
Yeah, I can't screw this one up. If any of my welds fail within a year, my company is on the hook for $100,000 to fix it.
No pressure...

Hey Otto,
Going by the work you have shown us, i believe your company has little to worry about.

Thanks, Mick!
It doesn't exactly keep me up at night, but I'm usually my own worst critic, so I have those "what if?" moments.
I've worked in industrial construction in one form or another for many years, so I'm used to the idea that a mistake could be costly, and even potentially deadly, but in this job a mistake could be disastrous. No matter how satisfied I am with a weld I always try to get more eyes on it than my own.
