i had to build up some worn teeth with weld metal on a locking device carriage the other day and was just about to start when i thought of an easier way. i ground down the offending teeth with a die grinder a little lower than the tooth base and fitted a small piece of square stock then used the die grinder to bevel the edges after tacking. the machinist is in the process of cutting and filing the teeth.
