little story on this project:
we have a second home in delaware and it has
a large tall attic space with plywood on the beams
(approx 60' long 12' floor space).
my wife is determine to fill it from end to end
with stuff from the jersey house. (maybe I'm
exaggerating a little) but regardless the pull down
stairs are tall and steep and very hard to carry a
fair sized box up or down. so this brings me to my
project. a 36" aluminum frame and a electric hoist.
heres the starting pieces.

That is a good idea. If it wasn't for women collecting too much "stuff" what would us men have to do
I need to invent a device to ratchet closed my kitchen cabinets that are jambed with enough cooking utensils to cook for a small country and we cook for 2 people mostly
Oh well...I'm sure our collecting makes no sense to the women either. "But honey, I need three welders"

Craig...nice! Make sure you post pics of the completed project. For my wife I would need something like a conveyor system that I could wheel around to overstuffed closets and kitchen cabinets and a rake to shove it all into the belt and a six wheel dumptruck to transport it to storage. Fabbing up something like that would be less time consuming than looking for something in the "utensile vortex"

my wife has the same issue with horizontal surfaces,
she believes they need something on them at all times.
so getting the house here in NJ ready to sell we have
endless boxes of horizontal stuff to store in Del. till the queen
has time to determine its just junk so i can toss it.
nothing like carting it 3hrs, putting it up in the attic
then a year from now bringing it down so i can chuck it..
think i need a new welder.......

Tell her to refuse an order on an HMS vessel. That's how half the Aussies got there...
Explain that a "Penal Colony" is NOT an "all male nudist colony".
Tell her you want HFAC.

Sorry, having too much fun.
HFAC = High-frequency alternating current.
Meaning aluminum welding capability.

Craig,
Is this part of your personal mobility project for the shop? (I've not been paying close attention for personal reasons.)
EDIT-- Never mind... I see what you're up to, now that I've read the posts I've missed.
