Well, there it is.
As you can see, the gates are noty level with each other.
That is because of all the flex in those pipes.
You can take and lift on of the gates by hand, ansd even them up.
I think another horizontal pipe, 5-10 feet down from the top, welded in with the right tension preset, would even stuff up.

Maybe later.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.
BTW, I did these gates 2 months ago.

Anyway.
My cold 7018 should hold it all together till the pipes rot out.

Thanks for watching.
And Atom Arc 7018 sucks.

Ran out of Lincoln 7018 early on and things went down fast.

Thanks fer watching,

John

Thanks for sharing, John.

I had a few anxious moments scrolling down, waiting for the scenery to show up, but when it did, it distracted me nicely from the aluminium ladder propped up against that giant gate frame! ;)

Dude, I was thinking the same thing....I am.jealous of that scenery till it covered by 4ft of snow and -30 temps.

John you do get interesting projects, I agree a nice pre stressed support would help.

John,

How deep do you have to set those posts to prevent frost heave? It seems quite deep from the method you used to set them.

Sorry Steve, I'm not aware how much concrete was used in setting those posts.

This isnt welding, this cutting the 30' sticks of pipe into 3 peices, then I'll plasma cut holes in the pipes for cable to pass thru.

And after plasma cutting those holes, I sold the machine and haven't used a plasma cutter since.

The poles have all been driven in the ground and have had the cable all strung.

Someday when I go to his farm I'll get a picture of the fence.

I'm sure it's a pretty sight.

Grind on brothers...
