Or do big engine repairs on big ships. What happens when the engine has massive problems and you built the entire shop around th engine? Cut a big ole hole in the side.
A student now but really want to weld everyday. Want to learn everything about everything. Want to become a knower of all and master of none.

What’s that large slot cut in the hull in the stern section just aft of the joined area. What’s that white insert attached there too? Some sort of antiroll wing?

Retractable Stabilizers. They are deployed while underway for a smoother ride, retracted when docked for clearance issues.
