General welding questions that dont fit in TIG, MIG, Stick, or Certification etc.

I’m doing more and more welding, MIG and TIG so far but want to try stick also.
It occurs to me that a respirator is probably a good idea.
Any recommended brands and models?

the anatomy of a used 3M 2297 pancake respirator filter

half-face respirator, 7502 or 6503QL is what I use.

You can buy a 3m welders respirator kit, with the appropriate face mask, filter and cleaning equipment/instructions in a storage container. Takes all the guess work out of it.

Be sure to get one with a downward facing exhaust so you don’t fog up. Amazon had them a while ago cheap.

@oscar for welding are you using the rectangular style filters or the round type?

the round 2297's I linked in my previous post. Still use them and they work great.
