Brother in law stopped here this weekend for me to do a weld repair on his Kubota mower deck. While working on it, he mentioned about the welding table at his new job. Said it's WAY bigger and heavier than mine, which seemed a bit odd. I can easily see someone having a bigger table, but mine is 2.5" thick 4' x 4' and solid steel. So, Pretty heavy.

This one is 5' x 10', and 3" thick. Cast obviously, then milled in a gantry mill I'd assume. Don't set this one down on your toe.

Nice table. I believe that Weld Sale bought out the rights from Acorn when they went under. So they're just making those classic Acorn tables.

Once saw half of an entire highbay made up of those Acorn tables linked together in an old shipyard. I think they used that rig for pinning down huge props for precision rework. Unbelievable sight.

I've heard of the Acorn tables but never actually seen one. It's such a shame all the foundries that used to make stuff like that are all gone in this country. I did computer work for one years ago, what a cool place.

It seems anything in a shipyard is awe inspiring. Any time something is scaled to those sort of sizes, I'm fascinated. Big forging presses are another thing that's hard to believe.

I seen a few acorn tables the other day on a auction site.

Think the biggest were 8x8' and pretty sure they were 6" thick.

They had a few sizes in the lot but it was a take em all or not at all scenario.

Definitely wouldn't mind a unmovable table like that but couldn't justify buying them all.
