Nova_70_383.

Power brushing the weld is usually faster than hand brushing to remove any enclosed slag, etc..

Nova,

This isn't usually a problem even for a code weld. It's common practice, as cleaning the weld aids self-inspection, and cleaning procedures may even be included in the WPS.

One caveat... For Stainless, only use a stainless wire wheel that has never touched carbon steel. Same goes for aluminum, except you should also use a fine-wired (less agressive) wheel. For SS and Al, I typically use an .006"-.012" wire in a high-speed (die-grinder) format so I don't abrade the surface of the weld.
