I got a lil over 2 years welding experience in the fabrication shop and the field. I know im gonna have to do more research on getting a cert...but I was kinda curious if u would pick 1 cert to kinda show an employer that u are well rounded what would u pick. Id run into problems when i went hunting for a new job...every employer asked me if i had certifications or if id done an xray test. Now personally i know that my welds must b sound...but id welded for one company an everyone seemed pretty pleased with my work...or i wouldn't have been allowed to do it.But without something i just get shrugged off. I did meet someone in Oklahoma that has a business an he mentioned a possible position. I sent pictures an seemed excited but then asked about my abilities TIG welding aluminum which is just somethin i haven't done. Im pretty sure their bread an butter are pressure vessels. Anyway he told me if I went to school an got some certs he would definitely hire me. I would love some thoughts and opinions!!! An i appreciate anyone who reads my post and responds...thank u ahead of time!

Just one? Can't really show your "well rounded" with one. If you want to do aluminum well start there I suppose.

I hate to say it in this context, but I made a 100K year before I ever had a formal cert...

What certs you pursue should be decided by what you want to do.

    6G TIG? 3G flux-core? Stick-down? Combo?

Decide where you want to work and what you want to do. That will decide the certs that will pay for you.
