Hey, thats a good way to look at it. The problem is I make my own and its extremely strong so it only takes a few and Im cuttin a 1/2" short. These tables may get me through my dry spell.

Motox...they are for indoors. I am told by my antique-guru friend that this style is all the rage right now. I took one to the local reseller/antique shop and the owner flipped out and wants all I have. I guess I am gonna hit the steel yard and load up. As stated above, this might be a new career for me. The nice thing is they are supposed to look old and rustic so it doesn't matter if the paint gets scratched up or a weld doesn't turn out perfect. I can't believe how much people(I mean women) are willing to pay for these tables. I'm fixin to be a tablemakin mofo here shortly.

Craig...yeah I painted the metal with rattlecan rustoleum primer and paint combined. Nice cause it dries real fast and is pretty durable.....Jeff

here is the table i made using the blacking agent on the metal.
sanded metal then applied agent similar to gun bluing
and it give it an interesting finish. spayed with clear ploy afterwards.

It just hit me...A welding helmet with the beer holders on the sides! Of course the beer holders would have to be on roller bearings so you could lift the hood....to refill. OR..fill the tig torch cooler with vodka and lemonade and have a little flip up mouthpiece on the torch like a water bottle with a valve that would automatically open during post-flow that would force you to drink or quench your weld. Gosh the possibilities are endless...Im gonna be rich!

Craig...did you edge weld and grind your corner brackets or press them? Those brackets are exactly what I want to do but I have been resisting buying a finger press as I am severely out of room in my shop. I might have to buy that Swag offroad press being discussed in another thread if this table thing takes off. I think those corners look sharp!...jeff

And OMG the prices! Handmade commands a tall buck. I been spinning my wheels repairing tractors, snowplows, and farm equipment. The real money is making something the women want. Men are cheapskates(like me. Time to get on that train!

That is definitly cool! I like the sculptures people make by pouring molten aluminum down a fire ant mound....If we had fire ants here, I would try it. There are some very creative people in the world.

I am envisioning your second pic cut down to coffee table height, with some plexi glass panels riveted onto an angle iron door, or expanded metal doors and book you have a flat panel tv stand with dvd/blueray storage. Kind of crossing old design and new technology. Would be a good seller around here.
