Stick Welding Tips, Certification tests, machines, projects
Hey, y'all. I wanted to take my long leads off my AC225 and put them on its big brother, but found that the leads on the AC/DC leads are soldered in place. They are not BAD leads, just a bit shorter than the others, so I gave up to avoid the extra PITA. Well, to get to the leads, I had to disconnect the rectifier and DC transformer that set on that little shelf in there. You know what I'm talking about. I was wondering if anyone had a picture they could post for me that shows the correct way to reconnect the rectifier. Specifically, the little black block that is on the bottom of the shelf. I had a wire appear that I didn't pay attention to in the disassembly, and want to make sure that I am not going to make it lose the magic blue smoke by reconnecting it in the wrong place. I did a google.search and all it showed is DIY rectifiers on AC225 machines.

Nathan,
I can't help you with the stray wire but why don't you put Tweco or Lenco twist lock connectors on both machines and then you can switch leads at will. Just leave about a foot or less of cable stick out of the front and put the couplers there.
Two pairs will probably cost you under $50.

Len. Thats the exact response I was making.... I turned my back to find a picture and you beat me. Hahshsha.
Yeah, that's the new plan that may make it easier for tig work too. I'm actually looking to sell or trade the AC machine. So far, nobody wants to trade lol.

The "previously unobserved" wire was pretty stiff, and kinda tended towards the rectifier, so I put it there. Its not the one that actually comes off the transformer, I didn't check what I comes off of inside. Anyone have a picture?
