Anyone living near Phoenix Arizona that needs a really good precision metal engine lathe should check this one out on a government surplus site.

I have the same model, a 1943 Model 10EE and can testify that these are awesome lathes. This one looks a bit rusted on the ways but they clean up nicely. This model, as it is, will not do metric threading if that matters but Monarch does offer a set of change gears for metric if you need them. Monarch does still exist for parts and service.
These 10EE's use a rheostat for speed control and there isn't a whole lot that can go wrong with it, not like the later 50's models that used a thyrotron tube speed control. The tubes can be expensive and hard to find.
General welding questions that dont fit in TIG, MIG, Stick, or Certification etc.

Here's a spec sheet on this lathe. The only thing I ever really had to complain about on this model is that it only has a #2 morse taper on the headstock. A #3 would be a lot more useful I think, but whaddya gonna do?
Chuck mount is D1-3. The lathe is 3 phase and if you don't have 3 phase available, I recommend using at least a 10 horse rotary converter. A static converter would probably work, too, but use your own judgment here.
