HI new to this forum

Hey Lads
Just thought I'd give a background of what I do
by trade I'm a toolmaker making assembly tooling but over the past 20 something years I have become the main welder in the machine shop I work in using mig and tig in stainless steel and aluminium and arc welding mils steel
I also am a Landrover nut owning a 1978 series 3 which has been repaired and modified many times for offroad use
I live in Dublin Ireland

Like you, I didn't intend to get into welding. I was working for an ornamental iron company in Chicago back in the late 1970's, and I asked how much the welders were making. When I found out they were getting almost two dollars and hour, I was impressed and wanted to learn to weld. That was big money for a high school kid, back in the day! Now, maybe I have my dollar amounts screwed up, but whatever it was, it was crap compared to what we make today!
