hey guys, I've got a customer who need a cast iron part welded, and I want to know if you guys have any suggestions on how to weld it? I know that your gonna need a pre heat and let it cool very slowly, but that's about it. I've never really done any work with cast iron, so any ideas are welcome. Thanks guys

I've welded cast with stainless rods and while it cools you can peen it to reduce stress on the cast.

Are you going to stick weld it or tig it?
I have more questions than answers

And what kind of stainless did you use? 309? 312?

May want to look at various electrode options, also depending on wether or not the part may need some (re)machining afterwards and also perhaps see if you can find out what kind of cast-iron it is.

Eg.:
