Hello I'm welding stainless steel to galvanized steel using 309-15 1/8 rod I'm having a real hard time with my vertical welds I'm looking for any suggestions that are out there thanks
If you are doing this on something that is critical you should be aware the zinc and many other low melting point alloys can cause cracking in stainless steel.
Do your similar thickness stainless to stainless stick welds look good? If yes, remove more of the zinc coating before welding.
